The Bar-Kays: The Best Of is a compilation album by the American soul and funk band The Bar-Kays, released in 1976. The album features some of the band’s most popular songs, including “Soul Finger,” “Son of Shaft,” and “Holy Ghost.”
The Bar-Kays were formed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1962. The band’s original lineup included James Alexander (guitar), Ronnie Caldwell (bass), Phalon Jones (drums), and Ben Cauley (trumpet). The Bar-Kays quickly became one of the most popular live bands in the Memphis area, and they soon caught the attention of Stax Records. In 1967, the band signed with Stax and released their debut album, Soul Finger.
