The Three Stooges were an American vaudeville and comedy team active from 1922 until 1970. The team’s primary members were Moe Howard (18971975), Larry Fine (19021975), and Curly Howard (19031952); Shemp Howard (18951955) and Joe Besser (19071988) replaced Curly Howard at various times.
The Three Stooges appeared in 190 short films, released by Columbia Pictures from 1934 to 1959. The team also appeared in several full-length feature films and television series. The Three Stooges’ slapstick routines and physical comedy have been praised by critics and audiences alike, and the team has been credited with influencing comedians and comedy teams for generations.
